Well we certainly hit a technical glitch with Episode 43 which meant that the multi-topic show I had planned became a 30 minute single-topic show. Not to be deterred the following day I did a bonus show and covered the rest of the intended topics. If you want to know what the technical glitch was then I’ll share that a bit later on, it’s not what you’d expect. But that technical hick-up got me thinking!
Maybe single-topic shows are actually a good idea?
Maybe the Live Show should be shorter (or longer like Joe Rogan’s)?
This is where you have a chance to have your say! Have a think about watching the live show and answer this short survey. There’s a chance to get a free copy of one of my books!

Taking The Spiritual Live Show On-the-Road
If you’ve been following my work you’ll know that I love to travel and at times having the ability to hit the road has been a blessing. It wouldn’t have really been possible to make the Stonehenge: Into the Light documentary were it not for the fact I had a campervan capable of mobile filming and editing. Well I’m back on the road only this time in something a little bigger. It means that like right now, I don’t have to stop doing the live show just because I’m on the road. It also provides me the opportunity to travel and meet more amazing people, just like you, and so I’m looking forward to future projects, meetings, events and collaborations. Who knows there may be a “Campervan, Coffee & Chat Show” coming soon, obviously with a spiritual focus! But for now keep an eye out for the motorhome icon at the bottom left of the Live Show thumbnails, that’s a clue when I’m broadcasting remotely.
So What Went Wrong With the Live Show Broadcast?
I was filming using a different camera, connected to the internet via WIFI to a 4G router, using OBS on a different operating system, powered via a 12v system. There was lots of chances for things to go wrong. Oh and did I mention I was in France where Rumble has been blocked by the authorities! With so many challenges you might be surprised to learn it wasn’t the router, the internet, the wifi connection, the French’s war on free speech, the change in camera, or the software. In the end it was Apple. Their Apple OS X operating system decided that because my battery was running low it would go into low-power mode. “But Mark, why was your battery running low, did you forget to charge it before the show?” I hear you ask 😉 Well Mac OS X has a battery management feature that decides not to charge your laptop if it thinks it’s best not to. So despite the fact I had been charging it (via USB C) for hours in preparation for the live show. It was only at 26% when the live show commenced. Apple decided to ignore my desire to have a fully charged laptop. So 30 mins into the show, low power mode kicked in and it promptly stopped using the graphics card which meant my broadcasting software couldn’t process the camera feed. At your end the picture froze and became choppy. I’m really sorry about that! I’d done all sorts of tests etc. but I didn’t see that one coming! Lesson learnt (see image below).
Time to Rethink the Format, Timing, and Duration of the Live Shows?
However an upshot of having to stop after one question and 30 mins in is that it has given us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the structure of the show.
- Should the spiritual live show be single topic or multi topic?
- Should the spiritual live show be longer (2h+) or shorter (30min)?
- Should it be once a week or every few days?
- Is there one day of the week which suits more people?
So here’s your chance, if you’ve not already filled in the survey above then go ahead because your opinion really does matter x – Mark
